Indian Embassy in Shanghai, China
VISA INFORMATION: All residents of Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang may apply at the Consulate General in Shanghai for Visa. Residents of all other Provinces and regions may please apply to the Embassy of India in Beijing For business visitors, a letter of invitation from a reputed Indian company must be attached with the application as also a letter from the applicant's company introducing him/her. The passport must have validity for a minimum of six months beyond the date of intended departure from India. The application form must be signed by the applicant himself/herself. The form may be submitted in person or through a representative. The Consulate General reserves the right to summon an applicant for interview. Public Affairs passports and Service passports must be submitted through the Foreign Affairs Offices. Business Visa are normally issued within two working days and are valid for single entry only. Holders must exit India within 30 days from the date of entry. The cost of the business visa is RMB 340.00 only.A multiple entry business visa with longer validity is also issued. However, the processing time is longer ( upto 6 weeks). Visa fee is the same ( RMB 340) up to a period of 6 months. For group tours visa can be issued within two-three working days provided that the application is supported by documents from local tour operator and its Indian counterpart. Such Visa will be valid for entry after 15 days from the date of issue. Issue of Tourist Visa other than group tours and Student Visa takes about 6 weeks. Students must have secured admission in a recognized Institution before applying. Visa valid from 1 to 6 months will cost RMB Yuans 340.00. Fee for a 6 months-1 year visa is RMB Yuans 550.00 and Visa valid from 1 to 5 years cost RMB Yuans 1100. However, student Visa of 1-5 year validity cost only RMB Yuan 630. Non - Chinese Nationals Foreigners residing in Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang may apply for Visa to visit India at the Consulate General in Shanghai. Those residing in other Provinces and regions of China may please apply to the Embassy of India in Beijing. For all categories of Visa, applicants must be in possession of the Aliens' Resident Card (Green Booklet). The passport must have validity for a minimum of six months beyond the date of intended departure from India. Application form must be signed by the applicant himself/herself. Short term visitors to China, or those not in possession of a Green Book, may also apply for visa to India if they have not, for any reason, been able to do so at an Indian Mission in the place of their normal residence.
